Perhaps it’s a little paranoid, but I don’t feel the clue of the tattoo is something that made PJ ahead of his nemesis. Kira Tinsley didn’t say too much, and PJ immediately interpreted her last words as something to do with RJ. She could be hired by some of RJ friends, or else RJ could make a henna tattoo in order to mislead Jane, or brainwash Kira to made her say the tattoo thing (we had seen people dying for RJ before)… Besides, why RJ would show his shoulders to Kira? I don’t think she was his sexual partner or something, since RJ is very selective (Rosalind, for example, is blind and very smart and polite, and Kira seemed to be very dumb).

Also: the way I see, isn’t much cleaver to gather the suspects and make a body examination; this didn’t conform to PJ style of investigation. Jane could use other means, like asking Van Pelt to check if there is some information regarding body marks on FBI files (for Bret Stiles or even Reede Smith, as the bureau may have information on his employees).

IMO Red John is not one of the Tattooed individuals. Yes Kira Tinsley's killer had the Tyger Tyger tattoo, but RJ himself might not have it. I don't understand why PJ assumed that Kira Tinsley was personally killed by RJ.

Rosalind will never face Red John alive. She agreed to identify a body, but she is too scared to confront him. Besides, maybe she nurtures a kind of respect to him, and there's a huge distance In doing a body id to help police to catch or Jane to kill him.

Maybe Tyger Tyger conspiracy was spying Jane and when they found Jane would be coming for Kira they killed her. Rj could be off the picture in this murderer case. Perhapes, Jane will catch John in an attempt to kill one of this Tyger Tyger conspiracy because they could be copying is style. And we all know how Rj dislikes copycats.

The Tyger Tyger conspiracy was concern about why they was looking in to the death of Robert Kirland. It is not Red John it was a person connect with the Tyger Tyger group.

Yeah, I have a feeling the red tattoo is a misdirect. Jane will spend all of "The Great Red Dragon" chasing down everyone with the tattoo and none of them will be Red John. He'll expose the Tyger, Tyger group, and probably get a final clue, though.

If the Tyger, Tyger group killed Kira and not Red John, it raises two questions:

1) Why did they need to use her to plant a bug when as members of law enforcement they could have easily bugged the team's office.

2) She was strangled. This is an act of rage consistent with Red John. Again, as law enforcement wouldn't they rely on a gun-shot to silence her.

Of course, another clue uttered by a dying victim makes for a more dramatic story.

Thank you! finally someone with a comment that has some sense in it. All these people throwing around crazy theories just are not thinking properly or methodically as you should in order to figure out Red John's identity. They are just being lured by screen play traps and throwing out any theory they can come up with in their head. Red John is a knive man as was used on Kira.

We already know from what the director has told us that Red John IS ON JANE'S LIST and that his identity may disappoint many viewers since they all love these crazy theories. We know that for a fact that Red John's identity will be revealed by the episode Red John, if the Tyger Tyger organization and the tattoos were just to mislead Patrick then he would be back to not knowing which one is Red John and thus incapable of figuring it out before the reveal since he has no more clues to lead him and no other leads to give him new information. Red John will be among the three suspects with a tattoo because the show is trying to build up to unveiling of Red John and they don't want it to just pop out of no where, they want to show Patrick Jane finally triumphant in besting Red John. That is the purpose of the three remaining suspects and the screen play thus far to build up the suspense.

All you crazy theory people need to just get over the fact that it's not going to be some ridiculous plot twist reveal.

FLM is right for the wrong reasons.

Jane's list does indeed contain Red John's identity. But that can be inferred from "Red John's Rules". Remember Red John's last message to Jane, delivered through Lorelei. He said Jane wasn't clever, he just caught a break. He starts using phrases like "pretty damned clever" and he says "I'll show you clever". And Jane's final list was disconcerting enough for Re John to taunt Jane again, taking a "happy memory" from him. And then in season 6 we see Red John making mistakes like hiring a PI to bug the CBI's offices and then failing to kill her completely.

It's apparent the Red John we see "predicting" Jane's list of 7, killing Lorelei and so on is not the Red John in complete control who killed two copycats saving Jane, recited "Tyger Tyger" to Jane and even almost lovingly patted Jane's shoulder before leaving him. This is Red John nervous, losing control and making mistakes. And the one major event that has occured is Lorelei's revelation and Jane's list which makes it clear that the list contains Red John's identity.

If the list were wrong Red John would have said so, taunting Jane that he went off on a fool's errand while Red John took yet another one of Jane's happy memories.
