<p>Jane was right about the oboe playing the duck, but wrong about the bassoon playing the wolf. The basson plays the grandfather, not the wolf. The wolf is played by a trio of french horns. </p>

Yes, but maybe it was made on purpose? To show the irony that he suspected her just because of a play. To show that even saying something wrong, he caught her and nobody told him he was wrong. Or maybe simply to let her a last chance to save her alibi? Or he just made a mistake, but I think it's very unlikely, plus you said that the wolf is played by a trio of french horns, and we know Jane likes to speak French, maybe a hint or something?

I know, I'm making up strange theories 6 years too late but nevermind 😂
