I just finished watching The Mentalist and I have to tell you it's the best thing. I have been watching and reading all sorts of things for a long long time, you name it I have watched it. But this is the first time I am reviewing or blogging just coz I couldn't stop sharing my feelings. I mean from the first episode till last this show hooks you up and you just can't avoid binge watching it. The writer Bruno Heller did an amazing job and also compared Rj to Moriarty of Sherlock Holmes but I think this show just took the antagonist to the next level, a level we know nobody's gonna reach. People compare it to Sherlock obviously but I think Patrick Jane is much more funny and emotional that's what make this beautiful. Fans talk about cases a…
it has been more than a year since "The Mentalist"finale, and now, there is something interesting: a facebook page and a petition have been created, both demanding Season 8. Lets hope it will lead to something good!
I just want to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to ALL the contributors of The Mentalist Wiki!It has been long overdue! At the risk of sounding cheesy..this platform has been an oasis for my soul...my HAPPY place!Reading the episodes has been such a pleasure!I can only imagine the passion behind this!Thank you again!!
I stared at a blank page with just a heading for over an hour, not knowing how to start, not knowing if I should curse you or pity you. There are no words to describe the frustration I feel after 7 years of dedication to your show, I don't believe Webster even has a word that powerful.
I have to say, I stopped watching this clownish festival you called a reboot mid-way through the last season, I just couldn't handle it anymore; the finale? I haven't seen it and will not, what I've read around the web was more than enough.
Honestly, as an executive producer, do you deem yourself elligible to play with people's minds like that? Have you any idea of the level of damage 5 years of clues have done to the followers of your show? I'm not talking ab…
The ending of the Mentalist was bittersweet. It ended in perfect happiness, but it was still sad to know that as it faded to black it wasn't just the ending of another episode. The story is finally over, and now it has come to a close. At it faded away forever, let's stop to say one final farewell to the Mentalist and look at why the last two episodes were a perfect way to end it.
The Mentalist started with a broken man who had lost everything. His entire family. Now that the story is complete, Patrick has a new life, with new hope and now a new family.
Grace and Rigsby returned for the wedding which I was hoping would happen. Also, the way they solved the case was perfection. It was full of suspense at every turn, making you wonder how it w…
OMG! I just watched the 2-hour series finale, and I'm almost in tears at how adorable, beautiful, and perfect the ending was!!!! :')
We can all admit now that The Mentalist is ruined, right? Those seasons of over extending the Red John mystery, that HORRENDOUS conclusion to the arc that insulted the longtime fans and the characters themselves, the "reinvention" of the show that revolved largely around Jane/Lisbon shipping that only Tumblrites could love (they NEVER had any romantic chemistry, hooking them up was such a cop out)... what's left to say? Can you even believe there's going to be another season of this rot?
Meanwhile, Bruno Heller is going to give the Batman mythos a good run through his colon with Gotham (premieres tonight on Fox), a Batman show without Batman. Great, so it'll be like that trash Smallville. Maybe the Joker will turn out to be some random sher…
Guys... do you also miss the CBI office? The FBI office just doesn't feel like "home"... it has become so un-personal, or it's like the symbol of the "reboot", which was a disappointment, personally. What do you think?
Really, they know they have their phones tapped and yet they don't use burner phones... on top of that the girl excapes and then flags down the first person she see's wtf? Stupid all over it!
I have been thinking lately and I think Red John is completely behind everything that happened with Ardilles. I don't think The Blake Association would act out of revenge, unless they were persuaded to by Red John before his death. I think McAllister had a plan B in the event of his death by the hands of Jane, which it has. I am really hoping that we see a Red John flashback or a video prerecorded before his death, with Xander Berkely reprising the role as Red John/McAllister. I also hope Rigsby or Van Pelt is killed, as it would truly cement Red John as a brilliant tactician as he is. Let's be honest, even though Berkely did a great performance, Red John kinda went out like a b***h. If he appeared once more, controlling all this chaos whi…
We all know Rosalind's history with Red John and how much is fact and fiction has recently come into question. She first apperaed in the season 1 finale where she was revealed to be Red John's mistress and taken in as such. She later appeared in the Season 4 episode Little Red Book where she confirmed that Timothy Carter was not Red John. In her last appearance she is contacted by Susan Darcy for information on Red John's identity and revealed what she knew. She later calls Jane and tells him that she has been talking to Red John which alerted Patrick and Susan to come over right away. When they arrive they see Harker seemingly hypnotized into playing the piano and Baris Acar dead in her closet. She was portrayed as a victim, until the se…
There is something very strange about the The Red Tattoo episode of season six. Why would Haffner tell Lisbon, "there's a lot of powerful people jane's pissed off, not just Red John" when warning her to stay away from his affairs to remain out of danger, and then "I just hope you remember I tried to help" as if there is something more going on, and if so, why are the writers suddenly ignoring all of that? A better question would be: which 'powerful people' (since the blake association is apparently dismantled, -and- Haffner did not have the Blake Association tattoo), and how exactly does Haffner know? Incidentally, this is also the episode Jane happens upon the 'clue' that leads him to the supposed Red John.
I used to believe the RJ saga wa…
This may be a short blog post but I believe The Mentalist should've ended at Season 3 with Timothy Carter being Red John, instead of McAllister, however I am starting to like the saga where Patrick is joining the FBI as well as Teresa
After thinking about this for awhile, I believe this season is the one that most requires special features during it's DVD release (especially if Red John will not be referenced to at all during the remaining episodes of the season). These are just a few I have thought of... I would really like to hear your opinion on these selections, as well as I look forward to reading your ideas!
- Red John Revealed!- An exclusive interview with Bruno Heller, Simon Baker, and Red John himself, Xander Berkeley! During this interview they discuss the identity of Red John, his motives, how he managed to do everything, etc. They answer questions that were not resolved during the season, cough-"He is Mar"-cough. Maybe they even take question…
Terrific episode, the last one, really, I'm back in the game. One thing bothered me though... They fly like three times from Austin to New York. Three times! I mean, why don't fix an temporary office somewhere there, where the investigation actually is done. Like in the Pilot episode :)
Heller, along with Baker, have already confirmed that this is the -end-, the -end- (twice, in case you nonsensically skip over the first one) of the Red John Saga. That's it. There's no more. After almost six years, the cast, the writers, and series creator Bruno Heller have decided to finally let go of Red John. Did this past episode mark the greatest reveal and showdown in television history? No. At least, it didn't seem like Heller did the best he could do. I would ramble on, attempt to justify and dismantle what worked against what didn't, but the fact remains that while there were some inconsistencies, a few of us desperately need to put aside our subjectivities and idiosyncrasies as to how the culmination should have panned out. The s…
For all the people who are being so childish PLEASE READ:
I have to tell guys, you have a real problem, so much hate I can't believe it, I mean it's crazy, stop already with the hating, Bruno and all the people behind the show are trying to do the best they can for us to enjoy it, and for you of course, it's so easy to sit in your computer and complain about everything, I mean, it's OK to complain if you really like the show and didn't like the way Red John story turn out, and I respect your opinion, but there's no excuse for you to be an ASSHOLE. I bet that you are going to watch the show anyway. You people are saying that you are done with the show, so be it! get the hell out of here with all that crying nonsense and stop acting so childi…
Call me nuts but I refuse to believe Thomas McAllister is Red John and I have many reasons as to why he isn't.
1) Why would he risk he life just to go to the church I mean the real Red John would've known that Patrick Jane was going to kill him one way or the other?
2) Thomas McAllister doesn't seem like the cunning, intelligent type if you catch my drift.
3) He came up to Patrick Jane claiming he was Red John, doesn't it remind you of someone... I mean
this is a game for Red John why would he come out of the blue like that? 4) Why when Patrick Jane shot him the first time, he was begging for mercy because I do recall in the Season 4 finale he said "There is no hell, so if you kill me I won't be punished for what I have done" So it is like he…
As some of you may not know, Simon Baker revealed that he played the voice for Red John during every time the infamous killer spoke, up until the Red John episode, where we found out that Red John was none other than Thomas McAllister (played amazingly by Xander Berkely). Now I was just wondering if anyone knew if Simon Baker also voiced the line, "It's totally fair. Game's over, I won" and then they just dubbed it in. It sure didn't sound like Berkely, but that would be impressive if it was.
It's not anybody's fault but your's if you've been spoiled about the last episode. I knew that the reveal of Red John was going to be leaked, so the last week I didn't clicked at anything that said THE MENTALIST, not even CBS website, or a forum, most importantly www.whoisredjohn.com since I'm there every 5 minutes, because I knew that trolls are everywhere on the internet these days. And I don't know what's up with you guys watching the promos, why the hell you watch and study them? Stop doing that, if the promos spoiled things for you (obviously), stop watching them. And don't complain about the reveal, I thought it was very enjoyable, what do you expect? Grenades, Ak-47's, explotions and shit? A persecution with Patrick in a lamborgini,…
So, McAllister is Red John. Was I shocked when I heard the words, "Thank you Oscar."? No.
Why, you ask?
Because CBS decided to put the ACTUAL RED JOHN in the promo. Thanks, guys. But besides my initial frustration with the network (and the leak), these are my "ratings" for this episode.
Red John's Identity~ 7/10
The only reason why I didn't give it three is because Xander Berkeley is an awesome actor. 24, Air Force One, etc. I truly believe that Red John was originally planned to be Partridge, but Heller decided that too many people suspected him, so he went for the small-town redneck sheriff.
Red John's Death~ 10/10
Some people have a big problem with Red John's cowardly behavior near the end, but I think it shows that Red John doesn't have …
So...Sheriff Thomas McAllister is Red John...I'm quite disappointed to say so myself however, am I the only one who wants to find out how he knew of Jane's list of suspects?
Guys, lets all rate the Red John episode on IMDb 1 of 10. Kinda as a silent revenge.
What happens to blake association after Sherif Thomas Mcallister dies???
Does anyone from blake association take revenge on Patrick Jane???
All over this wiki I have seen people complaining about how terrible the reveal was... I already know who he is (he was my number one suspect for awhile after Fire and Brimstone, I thought he just fit the character the best, especially after Wedding in Red), but I have not seen the episode... I already know he dies and I even pictured how that would go (for those who saw the episode, tell me if this is correct- they meet in a church, Jane shoots him, RJ somehow manages to escape from the church and they chase each other until they come to an outdoor secluded area like a park, where Jane strangles him to death... I came to that conclusion from the promo and the TV Guide article). Any ways, I was hoping that those who have seen the episode a…
What is it about this fake leaked episode? I've not seen it, but there's a great deal of commotion about it. Is it Heller trying to fool us?
I was just wondering if anyone knew what "huge mistake" Red John made, which has been mentioned several times on this wiki and in the episodes... Does anyone know what it was?
So I have been looking around the net and looking at people posting about their confusion with the promo for the Red John episode. One guy was saying "the promo has you believe Jane kills Red John in the church, but it will be outside". Another says "the Sheriff is running from somebody".
The way I've got it put together, is whom ever Red John is, Jane does shoot him in the church. Then Red John runs out of the church, into the graveyard we see in the promo, and onward while Jane chases. Also the man with the gunshot wound going through that window, is the same Red John that patrick has shot and chased through the graveyard.
I could be wrong but that's exactly what it looked like to me. :-)
I don't believe Gale Bertram is Red John. Okay, he killed someone very coldblooded, he escaped in a cunning way, but would Red John flee from Patrick? No, he enjoys it all to much. Far too much. And I think he wants to be "caught", to actually confront Jane. He wants to show Patrick he's smarter than him.
Bertram could come back, but he took a passport and money. And he looked VERY scared. Red John? Nope.
By the way, would Red John kill Jane just like that in the hospital? Naaaah, don't think so.
On the page of Red John (episode) on IMDb, it says: Currie Graham ... Walter Mashburn / Red John
I hope it means that users can edit such list's, 'cause otherwise, shame on IMDb!
I wrote the following theory almost a year ago in January before they ever had a list of suspects for Red John. While figuring out who my red john suspects were I got excited after figuring something out and decided to write it down. I haven't made any changes to it except for a couple of grammatical errors and changing forensics guy (how I previously had him written down as) to Brett Partridge. I put my old theory in quotes and in italics and am following it up afterwards with a revision based on all the new information since.
"Why I believe LaRoche is Red John.
I watched a lot of episodes of The Mentalist on TNT before having followed every season. Because of this I had already seen episodes revealing that the man claiming to be Red Jo…
BIG SPOILERS The emotions are high, The mood while shooting' 'the reveal and death of red john was strange and discombobulating, " says creator and ex producer Bruno Heller," There were a lot of hugs when it was over, and a champagne toast, It was really quite moving because, in a way, it felt like we were killing of an old family friend. Red John has paid for a lot of Mortgages'"
The actor playing him says he was "stunned and flattered' when he learned that His character-one of seven final suspects-was the shows big bad. "Earning this little place in pop culture history was the last thing I ever expected," He admits" truth be told, I thought I was a red herring.
There are no sirens or hovering choppers. There are no witnesses. Its just Jane …
Does anyone know if there are any sports events scheduled for the 24th November (Red John (episode) transmission date)?
As I am sure it is no secret, Fire and Brimstone was postponed in America and substancially caused every other episode following it to be pushed back a week. My question now is for the viewers of Canada... Will your programming also be delayed a week or is it supposed to stay on schedule? I hope it will air normally because I can not wait for the Red John reveal any longer... I'm sure someone in Canada would put the episodes online.
When I rewatched episode 1 (s. 6), I noticed one thing I never thought of before. When I heard Red John talking to PJ, I thought of Kirklands voice. (I hear a kind of sharpness in Kirkland's voice, just like RJ's voice) Now, if Michael Kirkland would be Red John, wich I find more likely than that Red John is one of the seven suspects, he would obviously be played by, yes, Kevin Corrigan. (So far I know, he hasn't got a twin brother).
I know it's thin, and I'm certainly not implying that Michael is RJ, but think of the possibility.
Comment in case of opinions!!
Ok so I had read that tonight's scheduled episode of the mentalist, (season 6 ep 6), was not to be aired in certain areas because of football or something, and it was to be pushed back to next week. Well tonight in California they did air the Mentalist... but it was Season 5 Episode 4!
Now that would be crappy enough, but they went ahead and played the preview for Season 6 Episode 7 after it! They totally spoiled Season 6 ep 6 for those who didn't get to see it yet. lol wow
If you open the page of one of the seven in this wikia under his photo you will see "the last appearance". What is interesting that only Gale Bertram and Reede Smith from 5 appear in the "Red John" episode. What do you think about it?
I know it seems silly, and he is not at the suspect list, Tommy is Teressa's brother, appeared in the 16th episode of season 2, he is a bounty hunter, he has a straight hair , Teressa forgave for something he did in the past, I don't know if he was involved some how in her father's death, because its not clear if her father killed himself or was killed by another person ( may be Tommy killed him to protect Teressa and her brothers from their violent father),
I need to watch the episode again to know if he shaked hands with patrick,
I don't know why I remembered Tommy now, but may be because at that episode he bugged Teressa's phone.
He could be the one who hired the femal detective who was killed at ( Red Tattoo),
As you will have probably know, Owain and Amanda are leaving the cast of The Mentalist...
But does that mean Rigsby and Van Pelt are going off in a good way or going to killed off?
If Red John does kill them it will be a good way to prove Red John still has power...possibly?
Hi , I think " hand or eye" means that there are two persons cooperate in every Red John's crimes, The "eye" in watching, and the "hand" in killing.
Sorry about my english, I'm mexican and a big fan of the mentalist. A little obsessed with it :-P
Maybe just maybeee, Jane and Lorelei created the video together about Red John supposedly knowing the seven suspects of Jane's list to set up a trap or something, because come on, Red John knowing the exact suspects that were just in Jane's head? thats imposible, Jane already trick us in past episodes. Also it's strange that Lorelei talks instead of Red John, why not Red John talk instead? another thing that caught my attention it's that when Jane finds Lorelei dead, he didn't get sad or mad and note that Lorelei's neck isn't cut like all Red John's victims. Maybe she's not dead.
About Red John:
Many theories had been circulating around the inter…
I believe the Red Tattoo clue Kira gave Patrick is misleading him. Think about it.
Red John has been killing for over 2 decades and I know Patrick Jane is getting close to catching Red John but why would Red John commit such a mistake like that?
I believe someone from the Tyger Tyger Conspiracy did the deed.
You know...I am so annoyed. I hate the way the camera pans
around behind someone. Some episodes they pan from left to right
around the CBI agent and each time the person come into view on the
other side it is a different person...and tonight it kept panning
Its not creative...its annoying and distracting.
What is Red John?
In the pilot episode, when Patrick Jane had the flash back while at Dr. Linus Wagner's office of him coming home to see RJ's letter and opening the door to see the RJ smiley which looked like this:
However in Season 4 Episode 10 "Fugue in Red" When Lisbon brings Jane back to his home to see the RJ smiley so he can regain his memory we saw this:
I don't know if the producers made a huge error or were just lazy...
He's not on the list so I'm not suggesting he's Red John, but it has long been suspected that CBI Ron is involved in the RJ conspiracies. In one example, he was one of the first people to show up and see Rigsby's fake dead body, which was an important scene for a seemingly not-so-important character.
I was looking around online earlier and kept seeing articles saying that Bruno Heller supposedly said there is "a very cryptic clue in that last sequence of episode one". (he was referring to season 6.)
Well besides the idea that Lisbon was probably tasered by the fallen Brett Partridge before he was killed, (because examination of the room reveals no hiding places for Red John except within the bathroom), there was another thing. That scene w…
Listen I need to know where the admins are on this wiki. They are probably busy with their regualar lives but I need to know if they are coming back and if so: When they are going to clean this wiki of all the articles needing deletion. If they aren't coming back then I would like someone to volunteer to adopt this wiki so they can clean this wiki up. I would do it myself but I'm trying to focus on another wiki that needs attention.
Salam, Bob Kirkland can say that he was after Red John because RJ killed his twin brother......why ( my twin) not only ( my brother )
The twin will have a roll at the show, what if he was the one who was sitting in that lemo and talking to Alexa Shultz !
Or the one that shaked hands with PJ and cbi.
so Bod Kirkland is dead, but the twin is alive.
Micheal Kirkland is a suspect.
Sorry for my English, not my first language
That time Jason Lennon was the only known Red John accomplice who was still alive. Jane was waiting his confession but Kirkland killed Lennon. Why? Now, we all know that R. K. was also hunting for R. J. So why he killed that man without confession. I dont understand.
What could Patrick Jane's IQ be? Personally, I believe i must be at least 140.
Please comment :)
Hi, What's the maistake that Partridge did that make Red John killed him? If Patridge was accomplised with Red John.. he would be the most important person for Red John, cbi never found evidence in any crime of Red John, Partridge is forensic ..he could hide any trace of blood that could could lead to Red John,
Why killing him? Did he say any thing in the first episode of season 6...
