Elspeth Cook appeared in The Red Mile. She killed her son-in-law Timothy Hartley.
Her son-in-law claimed to have been abducted by aliens. He wanted to start a foundation for fellow abductees. He was going to use his money for it. His attachment to it would have drug the Cook's name through the mud, according to Elspeth, so she shot him in the chest. Then her and her butler kidnapped the body as she had gotten cut while slashing Timothy's throat post-mortem.
