Jim Meier is the murder victim in Red Handed. Jim is killed by his son-in-law Daniel Cardeira after Jim confronts him about the video of Jessica meeting a "Whale" to pay off a gambling debt. Jim called Daniel a degenerate low life pimp and fired him. Jim also said he would do anything in his power to get Daniel out of Jessica's life. Daniel then beats Jim to death with a baseball bat.
One thing Jane does for Jessica is tell her that her father (Jim) die protecting her so he was there for her after all.
